awards made

The Trust is presently funding four Research Scholarships.  One Scholar is in their second year of study leading to a PhD and three are in the course of their first year.

The trust has now provided more than 550 general bursaries to former pupils of our contributing schools.  More than 170 postgraduates have benefited from a Postgraduate bursary.

We know that there are large numbers of students in need of financial support.  We are concerned that only half of those who apply for our hardship award are facing a level of challenge which we aimed to provide help for.  Our criteria for award are not as stringent as those of the Universities; that's not to say we are not rigorous.  But, we are willing and able to assist those with a real need.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

In addition to the above awards the Trustees will entertain applications from students on the basis of exceptional financial need arising unexpectedly in the course of a programme of study; the financial hardship would not be of the applicant's own making. There are no specific dates for these applications. Applications for support in case of exceptional financial need should be made in writing to the Trustees and sent to the Secretary and Administrators. For further details click here.

SELECTION PROCESS

All awards are made at the absolute discretion of the Trustees. In the event that the number of applications for postgraduate bursaries, general bursaries and project awards exceeds the funds available for each category of award, the Trustees may resort to a method of random selection. In making the final award decisions the Trustees reserve the right to take account of the applicant's financial means.

Postgraduate Bursary Application

The deadline for submitting applications for the postgraduate bursary has now passed and we would like to thank all applicants for their submissions.  We shall post an announcement here AFTER successful applicants have been notified.  Please do not email or call at this time.  Also, if you have submitted a stamped self-addressed envelope to obtain confirmation of receipt of your application, please be patient it may take us up to a week to turn these around.

Other matters

We received more than 20 applications for the three Postgraduate Reseach Scholarships on offer this year.  The Trustees would like to thank all who applied for the time and effort they clearly put in making their applications.  The quality of the applications was such that the Trustees faced a very difficult choice in first short-listing applicants for interview and then in selecting those to receive the award.  All successful applicants have now been informed.

Before contacting us with queries please be sure to read the website and if you do contact us please be sure to tell us which contributing school you attended.  The list can be found in the "about" section of the website.
