Nigel Matthews - Chairman
is a lawyer and was the Group Secretary of J Sainsbury for 25 years before his retirement in 2001. He served on a number of industry and government committees, including the monopolies and mergers commission and was awarded the OBE in 2000 for services to the food retail industry. From March 2002 until May 2008, he served as the independent chair of the OFT's Audit Committee. He persently serves as a Governor of the University of Hertfordshire and a Trustee of the National Grocers' Benevolent Fund.

Tim Head
is a Chartered Accountant and former partner in Coopers & Lybrand. From 1995 until 2001 Tim was the Chief Financial and Accounting Advisor to the Competition Commission. Tim presently serves as an independent member on the Training and Development Agency for Schools audit committee.

Eeva Leinonen
is Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Hertfordshire. Prior to becoming Deputy Vice Chancellor she was Dean of the Faculty of Health and Human Sciences and the Director of the Health and Human Sciences Research Institute.
Eeva has published widely, is a regular keynote speaker at international conferences, is on editorial boards of scientific journals and works as part of a network of international research collaborators. Her specialism is in Developmental Psycholinguistics, with particular focus on pragmatic language impairments in children.

Ian McCulloch
is a solicitor and Senior Partner of Bircham Dyson Bell, whose specialisms include charity law. Ian is also the chairman of the Society for the Relief of Distress, a grant-making charity for the relief of poverty in London, and a trustee of another charitable trust. He is also a parent of a pupil who attended one of the schools concerned during the relevant period.

Mike Parkhouse
is a former teacher and schools inspector and is currently Senior Assistant Secretary at the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) with responsibility for national and international programmes of training, consultancy and conferences for school leaders and others. Mike taught at a number of secondary schools, including posts as Head of Department and Senior Teacher, and has served as an LEA school inspector, senior inspector and Head of Educational Training Services for a large County Council. Prior to his current appointment, he was Training and Development Officer for the NAHT.
