welcome
The Trust has now distributed its funds and is now in the process of winding down. With effect from 8th September 2014, we are no longer accepting applications. Please use the site to find out more about the activities of the Trust.
SCAST existed to provide grants for tertiary education, to former pupils of fifty independent schools which were involved in an enquiry by the Office of Fair Trading into the exchange of fee information.
The Trust came into being in December 2006 following the OFT enquiry when the schools agreed to pay £3 million to the Trust in five annual instalments of £600K. The final payments were made to the Trust in December 2010. If you want to know more about the background to the Trust click here.
From 2007 to 2011, the Trust dispensed £2.3m through substantial annual programmes of educational grants to former pupils of the contributing schools. Details of the grants made can be seen by clicking here. The trust’s finances no longer permit it to operate an annual grant programme. It‘s resources are sufficient only for it to meet its existing responsibilities to its postgraduate research scholars and for new grants to students in difficult financial circumstances.
The Trust made grants only to former pupils of the contributing schools who met certain criteria. For details of the contributing schools click here. For details of the eligibility criteria click here.
